I had to replace my landing gear switch and plate and still need to replace the battery vent and reseal all of it.

How do I remove the old sealant without scratching the fiberglass siding? Will acetone clean this off?

You should be able to cut the caulk with a razor knife at the joints and peel the vent off. You can then use a plastic putty knife (scraper, something) to get the majority of the remaining caulk off and reinstall with the same type off caulk as you will likely not be able to remove it all.

Go to home Depot and get some caulk remover, there's a variety of brands even safe for use on fibreglass.

I agree with a razor scraper to remove most of the caulk and then perhaps a product like GOO GONE (do not know if it will work) or gentle rubbing as caulk is not all that sticky (low grade adhesion).

I have never had caulk remover, but mineral spirits work well.

I finally found time to get back to this.
The GOO GONE cleaned it very well but didn't remove it.
Mineral spirits and a little elbow grease took it right off.

I was so impressed how well the GOO GONE cleaned it I went around and cleaned up caulk with it. It looks new again.

A razor blade. Score the sealant athen remove the trim. Then gently take a new blade and cut the sealant flush with the surface, with the blade almost flat with the surface. Then clean it up with some adhesive remover. They make plastic razors if you are worried about damaging the surface.
