I would have gone out this weekend had I known how cool it was going to be. I just didn't believe the forecast.

During this recent heat spell I've been watching the weather at home and comparing it to Ridgecrest and Johannesburg/Randsburg. The Ridgecrest weather has been just as hot as home, but Jo-burg and Randsburg have been about five degrees cooler. It was almost enough to tempt us out to Red Mountain, but not quite enough.

I just noticed last week that my PTO bank is about to max out, so I told my wife I'm probably going to head out there in a few weeks when it cools down more and just stay at camp for a couple of weeks. Maybe work remotely for two days and then take the next three off. Repeat that until my PTO makes sense again.

I don't like to ride solo, but I'm more than happy to camp out there by myself. And nothing makes our dogs happier than a long trip to the desert.
