Yesterday's 7.7 earthquake on the coast of Michoacan between Tecpan and Lazaro Cardenas was really felt here in Zihuatanejo. Fortunately there was no damage here and reports make it appear as though there wasn't much serious damage.
No road condition information has been available yet, but there is bound to be damage on the coast road. Bridge approaches and exits are bound to be rough, and there have to be slides along the way. Fortunately, these things are taken care of quickly. It would be great to get a report on the road conditions.

Three earthquakes in Mexico City all on September 19; 1985, 2017 and 2022. That happening has a probability of 0.000751%.

Mexico has tectonic plates near and under, most of Mexico sits on the North American plate with the Baja peninsula riding along on the Pacific plate, on the South East is the Caribean plate that is pushing on a South West direction, directly South is the Cocos plate and North of it is the Rivera plate.
The Cocos and Rivera plates are subduction plates that are going under the North American plate, the Cocos plate is broken in two sections and is very interesting because it does not continue in an ark down but levels of and it travels for a distance, and then goes under that is from the coast of Acapulco to Mexico City, that is why the volcano Popocatepetl is active.
So Mexico has subduction earthquakes and shear earthquakes, Baja rides the Pacific plate along with California against the North American plate, ergo the San Andreas fault.
Mexico has very active teluric zones and there are a miriad of frature zones, there will be more quakes to come, lets hope that the population learns to build better structures that are more stable in teluric movements
The Monday quake was from the Rivera plate moving and there there is a gap along the North Cocos plate on the coast of Guerrero that has not moved in some time the last time it had a good movement was 1957 so we are looking at a big one.

We had another quake of magnitud 6,7 and 1230 plus teluric movements from the last one and countles others from the seismic areas to the South East this is the tectonic plates moving, those of you living in RV's have the best quake protection, the RV will wistand a 12.5 quake or higher easily, some of you go down the road at over 75 MPH and the RV did not come apart, unles there is an obstacle, those of you living in brick houses, hope they are strong to wistand the quakes, did I feel the one today in the wee hours, nope was sound asleep and the cat did not wake me up, got to have a talk with her about that!

One vernal cave pool in death vally had 4 foot waves 75 minutes after the quake in Mexico, they also have wave activity after quakes in South America, Japan and the South Pacific islands, plate tectonics are interesting I have been interesred in them since the late 1960's, that pool is 1,300 miles from the epicenter from the quake of 7.7 on the 19 of September, and of course Mexican humor says that
Y retiembla la tierra en su centro al sonoro rugir del "temblor"
(And the earth trembles in it's center at the loud roar from the quake)
These are words that are part of the Mexican him, except for the "temblor" it should be cañon "canon", humor in Mexico is unic.
