Maybe it has a specific temperature range to detect human breath and not just plain air.

Alcohol and drugs have destroyed my family slowly but surely.
My 18 yr old sister was killed by a drunk driver when I was 13. She was on her way home from her job at Foley's when she was hit head on by a drunk driver. He traveled only a little over 1 mile from the bar before he hit her.
My father was a Japanese POW for most of WWII. Needless to say he was a basket case when he returned. He struggled with alcohol and anti depressants my whole life until he passed away at the age of 62 from cirrhosis of the liver.
One older brother drank himself to death at the age of 46. Died of liver cancer.
My younger brother and another older brother pretty much do nothing but sit in front of the TV drinking beer, whiskey, smoking pot and no telling what else all day. Both their wives left them years ago. Their homes are falling down around them. The younger brother has had at least 2 DWIs that I know of. He had to have a breathalyzer installed in his car so he drove his truck. His license was suspended but that didn't stop him. It's a free country you know.
They are both unemployed as well as unemployable. They stopped trying to hold down jobs because it interfered with their drinking.
I don't know why I'm sharing this. I think because most people don't see the total affect of alcohol and drug abuse unless you live it.
I don't drink because of this. My family has been struck down by 'The A Gene' as I call it. I preach to my children they were born with the A gene. Look at your uncle's. This is what the A gene will do to you if you're not careful.

Your sharing may have an effect on just one person, and if so, that alone is worthwhile.

NHTSA
DUI crashes don’t just cause deaths they also cause injuries.
And how many crashes happen because people suck at driving? Perhaps a detector that can tell if the driver is a moron could be developed?
We used to have that. It was called Driver's Ed and it was mandatory.
People are idiots and need protection from themselves. We do too. The breathalyzer is a great idea.
