Ford probably isn't even providing the adaptive cruise control option right now or the foreseeable future due to parts supply issues. Heck they have trucks setting at the Kentucky race track waiting for Ford logos that are made in some other country.

So even less relevant to your '23?

Reading through this thread, orders for the 23 Super Duty does not open until next week? One poster said someone ordered a 22 and it's not going to be built until December? GM has had 23 HDs on the lots for at least two months, almost drove one home two weeks ago, and I received a GM email last week that the 24 Sierra HD can be ordered starting mid January for late spring 2023 delivery. Is Ford that far behind the ball and why, shortages? I don't remember Ford being behind on model year roll outs ever, usually the exact opposite?

I can speculate on these model years. Ford and GM are striving to produce the most trucks. The GM 2023 is a carry-over, as GM is doing the enhancement for 2024. Ford is doing the enhancement for 2023. If they spent down time, they would produce less. This is all business strategies. Ford extended their 2013 F150 model year to produce many more trucks and offer great deals while GM was bringing on the new 2014 models. The business model is more complex than many think.

I was thinking along those lines in the back of my head.

I am stuck on longbeds. Try finding one of those in any a Ford or GM with crew cab, gas engine, and not a WT/Pro (Chevy/GMC) or Ford XL trim level sitting on a lot That was a tough nut even prior to this current foolishness. Lately I've been finding more than a few on lots or in the pipeline, and the dealers have come off of the added market adjustments of $5K or more. Most are only wanting "sticker". Screw that. At the same time they are seemingly back to the old standby of trying to lowball trades. All of that tells me they are starting to get the heebie jeebies when the current and future economic winds are taken into account. They've all but talked me out of a new truck and If I do pull the trigger on a GMC, or maybe a Ford, it will now be a 2024.

GM is putting the 10 speed automatic in the 2024 truck with the gas engine. There was nothing wrong with the 6 speed, except you need 10 according to many posts. I have driven 4 different HD trucks since 2020 - one gas and three diesel - and the 10 speed has been very nice. I towed the same weight (10k-18k) with the gas and 6 sp. I had no issues in Michigan. As for your long-bed crew-cab with gas engine, you will probably need to order. I am trying to decide if my 2024 will be gas or diesel.

To further what Pbutler said, I’ve been shopping for the opposite recently. Need one in 2 months. Shortbed CC half ton.
I’ve seen new HD Diesels and high end half tons are back to sticker price (as advertised), and the typical areas of the country with better pricing are now back to offering significant discounts off MSRP on mid level and base model 1/2 tons.
Even some newer used 1/2 tons around here are not priced in the stratosphere anymore and they’re not flying off of Craigslist daily like they were.
But most dipchits are still trying to get $70-90k for low mile newish diesels.

Just order a truck and wait for it. You'll probably get it cheaper than one on the lot.

This comment made me laugh in a god way. Every time I posted on Craigslist in the past, almost ALL responses were scammers.... Heck, I had more than 1 person offer me a check for $4000 more than asking price.. all I had to do was sign the title and cash the check. I could keep the difference ! ! ! ! [emoticon]

I was towing in the mountains on the weekend and found the current Powerstroke’s poor torque rise to contribute to a negative towing experience. The engine looses rpm too quickly in the hills. I’d like to see 1200 lb ft of torque with about 505 HP. The other thing I found very annoying is the way my truck applies the wheel brakes on downhill grades while using cruise control. I found myself having to cancel cruise constantly to allow my truck to coast a bit on the downhill sections of road. The way cruise use to work was better.

I had a new 2022 Powerstroke for a few days this spring when my work truck was in for service. The power of the truck was impressive, but the exhaust brake was not even close to being as strong as the one in my Ram/Cummins even when using tow/haul and manually downshifting the transmission. I find myself actually giving the Ram throttle at times going down mountain passes here in BC while towing, and never use the service brakes. I have even had people frantically flag me down on the road to tell me that my trailer brake lights are not working, but they do not realize that I am not using the brakes. [emoticon]

If I was offered $80k US for my ‘22 F350 Platinum I’m not sure what I’d do. The way it looks it might be getting close to 2024 before I see a ‘23 in my driveway. I think I’d have to pass on that offer.
