Wow, you'd think it was winter or something. If I recollect correctly, it gets cold this time of year pretty much all the time. Guess it's a slow news day.

Yes it does get cold this time of year.

Yep, it's coming to Amarillo overnight. Lows will be a few degrees below zero; high tomorrow, a balmy 10 above (just perfect for a picnic). To make it worse, strong winds will be added to the mix (Amarillo has the distinction of having the highest average winds in the U.S., or so I've read). I can't imagine what the wind chill temp would be, but wouldn't be surprised if it's below zero. At least no snow is forecast. [emoticon]

I plan to stay indoors the entire day. I had the foresight to buy enough groceries and water so that I wouldn't have to go outside. The good thing is, by the weekend there will be a warming trend, perhaps hitting 60 on Sunday. [emoticon]

Our home is in West Michigan, in a "Lake Effect" snowbelt. They are just telling folks to stay home on Friday (Blizzard Warning).

So I'm hunkered down in E central Florida, where it's supposed to be in the 20-30's for windchills and the "Falling Iguana" alerts are out.

I guess it's going to be a dangerous holiday for everyone.....

I use to chain up the clear night before a snowstorm in case of emergency runs.

I never had to do that, but can see where it would be good idea. If weathergirl misses, much faster to remove than install chains.
I have had to do things to make sure my snot would start.
