Man. Who knew there was so much stuff to hate about camping?

We mostly boondock, so my peeve is when people leave broken glass and other crud in the fire ring. That and nails. Don’t ever burn pallets!!!

It's not camping that we hate, it's the other campers!!! [emoticon]

Campsite encroachers. I have had to move bikes, chairs, and picnic tables because they were so close to my trailer I didn't have clear access to empty my tanks. Kids are kids and I get they drop their bikes where they jump off of them but...adults moving picnic tables so close to another trailer is beyond inconsiderate. Same with fire rings being close to other sites...granted, that is the fault of the CG but some rings get moved by the campers when they are not supposed to be moved. Basic inconsideration of others is the big issue. For the most part, the good experiences out number the bad.

I hate arriving at my campsite to find trash in the firepit. It's a firepit, not a burning barrel, or ash tray. Some people like to roast wieners and marshmallows over the campfire, without having to clear out the previous camper's empty soda cans, chip packages and dirty diapers.

Ha, I came here to say "people". I don't like people. I like going to James Island Campground during the week in March, there are usually 5 or 6 open sites between campers that time of year. Plenty quiet!

First summer I was retired I volunteered as CG host, month each at 2 state parks.
First weekend, first loud party. That Ranger handled it best. Got to site, and everybody's attention. Asked How many are in this group? Made a note in his book, then asked Are there any kids under 18? Another note.Is there anybody that can drive not drinking? Third note. They told me this is a easy job, I would spend nights at home. I have found there is only way to be sure I'm not called out a 3rd time is when I get the 2nd call I make 2. Nobody can drive, so I can't just order you out of park. I call Child Protective Service, to take the kids, and a bus to take the rest to jail
In the month I was there, parties where over shortly after quite hours started.

The other CG, Friday night loud party. Called Ranger, no response. Talked to other host, was told that was normal. Thru Sat, several campers complained. I went to office printed a few sheets, grabbed stack of blank paper. In my host vest, started where loud could see me, putting blank sheet on each picnic table. As I passed the site, somebody asked why I was skipping them, so I gave her the sheet that said FREE FOOD! FREE BEER! SITE # xx COME ON DOWN WHEN MUSIC STARTS!
You know the music never started? But park management was not impressed when somebody turned in the printed sheet.

My biggest grouch is when checking in ,many times you will stand there while the owner reads you a list of 25 or 30 things that you can not do or must do ! I am usually in a hurry and have to pee and I ain't got no dogs or kids or outside speakers and no I do not want tickets to Disney or the Ryman Auditorium and I do not want to buy a time share . Get me loose so I can go potty !

I think a couple of you may have been camping at Bull River on Cabinet Gorge Res a couple summers ago.
There was a guy and his grandson who’d fire up the campfire songs each night. You know, really offensive stuff like old country and western songs….in rural Montana. Guy was loud and but he could sing. Ida swore he had a mic and a PA. (He didn’t. Guy was just an awesome singer and guitarist)
Well the second day a couple Karen’s and Kevin’s complained to the camp host about the noise after quiet hours. (We’re talking like 10-11pm mid summer not 2 am)
Camp host and wife were cool folks. He stopped by in the afternoon and asked me to help him get the word out about the concert tonight.
So invited the whole campground to the guys campsite that night…except the Karens.
Got pretty drunk w the camp host too…good times!
