Went to a rally in Meadows of Dan Virginia and a guy there towed a VW beach buggy from Pennsylvania there. Had a tonneau cover snapped in place to keep it "sort of" dry when towing. Sporty thing touring the Blue Ridge Parkway that summer. Looked like fun. December? Not a chance!!

Sweet. I would love to see how the tow tabs were installed. I had a MG Midget that I towed 4 down behind the motorhome. Apparently the tow tabs, welded to the front of the chassis, were stronger than the chassis metal and it all broke loose when we were in FL. I trailered it to Georgia and sold it for what I paid. Good fun while it lasted!!

My wife totaled our Miata that we've been towing for over ten years. Before that car we towed an MR2. No one ever stated that either car was towable but neither car suffered any damage from towing. I'm looking for suggestions beyond the usual Jeep or truck. Any ideas? Bob

I was reading the latest FMCA Towing Guide and to my surprise my wife's 2021 Kia Forte GT is flat towable in either automatic or manual. Hers is a 7 speed dual clutch automatic with a 201 hp 1.6 liter turbo four, it's well equipped and comfortable and with a 0-60 time in the mid sixes it's definitely sporty. The Kia Soul GT with the same engine and transmission is also flat towable. Both of these DCT equipped cars require a specific procedure outlined in a Kia service bulletin to be performed before towing, but it's not too far out of line with procedures required for other automatic cars. The lower trim models of the Forte and Soul that have CVTs are not flat towable. Of course, this would need further research to verify.
