Back in when you can. or drive thru the 2 spots in a row so you can drive out the other side. Latter works unless it is a one way aisle........

30 years of driving crew cab std 8' bed trucks. ALso have 30 years driving my Navistar dump truck that is another 18" long in wheel base and 2' or so longer overall. The funny thing about the navistar, is it has a 54 degree front axle wheel cut, vs 45-50 on the three GM trucks. I can out turn the CC pickups but 5' or so. Reality, its easier to get into tight spots.
You WILL get used to it!!!
But I admit, my 1500 dual cab with a 6.5' short bed is nicer in many ways than the crew cabs. I just wish I could have found a heavier chassis version, ie one of them old styl 8600 gvwr 25 series trucks. THe current 10k+ SW 8 lug trucks are too much suspension IMHO for what I do.

I have a 2022 GMC crew cab dually for a work truck. It is a cab & chassis with a service body so the bed is 8' wide and 9' long. I park it in regular parking spots at Lowes, restaurants, gas stations, offices, etc. every day. I take it thru restaurant and bank drive thrus every week. There's room to open the doors just fine.
I do typically back into parking spots around the outside edge of a parking lot if it's small just because the truck is so long. The rear overhang can go over the curb and above what is usually a grass area around the edge of the lot. If it's a big parking lot, like at Lowes, I don't want to walk from the edge so I just take up a normal spot.
It sounds like you just need to get used to the larger truck. It's not really any larger than any other truck out there, not in width or height anyway. You will really appreciate the long bed for it's better ride, more storage, and larger fuel tank.

Thanks for the tip. I'm impressed if you can park a dually in a single spot. Mine is only single rear wheels. Maybe some parking lots have wider spots, too. I'll try to use some of your tips.

DallasSteve, you are making way too big a deal of the size of your new truck! We full Time and drive a 2016 Ram 3500 Crew cab DRW Long Bed. I park where I want to within reason, there are a few drive thrus that I avoid, but can park in most standard parking spots, and parking garages. You need to learn to back into parking spaces, way easire than diving into.
No the DRW is not a smart car, but it isn't a class 8 truck either.

For the same specs, there is almost no difference in size.

A maxed out 4x4 4 door half ton will have issues with parking garages.

Unless they have big discounts, the three quarter ton will be a far better tow vehicle.

If you were down around 7500lb, I might accept a half ton for the more efficient drive trains available.

" I think they are even offering 0% interest on the F-150, but not on the F-250."

I think it's currently 0% for 48 months, so, for example, on a $70,000 truck, you'd have a low, low monthly payment of ONLY $1500!! [emoticon]

If you focus on the parking limitations you’ll be convinced you would have been happier with a short box. The long box has a bigger fuel tank and is less likely to have the back cab corner get crunched from hitting the fiver nose. I chose maneuverability over the bigger fuel tank and so I’ve been buying short box trucks for the last 20 years. Your might as well focus on the advantages of the long box and be happy ….. or sell it and buy a short box.

We see so many folks with dually trucks and wonder how many folks require them. We have always hauled our Jayco 39' travel trailers. I also know we load it to the teeth for our 6 to 7 thousand mile winter trips across the US. I never wanted a 5th wheel as I never cared for the bed and bath up stairs. ( figured after a few beers I might be falling down as well as up ,LOL) Bottom line never had any towing issues and we do put on the miles. I will say any 250 is a great riding towing machine and my GMC loaded with all leather seats, crew cab, short box is wonderful for my long hauls.

Well, sounds like you bought too much truck for daily driving, but have the perfect truck for your towing needs..

I'm not retired (yet) so still need to do the daily grind.. I used my 13 F150 for that duty up until a year ago.. Gas prices just got too much, as it will "run fine" on regular, but really likes premium when you ask it to work..

Anyway, I miss driving the truck for sure! But, filling up the Escape compared to the F150 is so much nicer on the wallet!

I get what you are saying about parking! If I ever went into a parking garage with the F150, I would watch the antenna as my 'feeler' when going under those huge beams.. 7' garage was the minimum for me.. This is just with a stock 4x4 F150.. I have scraped the antenna a couple of times, but that means I still have about 2" left.

Parking lots, I always looked for multi open spaces so I could swing in easier, but still only take up a single space. I have the towing mirrors on the truck, so would have to fold them in most times, as they really stick out.. I call them the "Dumbo mirrors".. [emoticon]

But, it tows my TT very well and not maxed out at all. Give and take for sure.

I'm just spoiled with being able to have a truck and a daily driver..

Good luck! Mitch

Do the math, and use your best judgement.

Too late…well, kinda, but the math will prolly involve spending more $ for less truck at this point.

You are correct that most TT or bumper pulls can be pulled with a SRW truck because there TW is relatively small.
It's when you get into 5'ers and TC's that the pin weight and payload becomes a bigger factor that can exceed the ability of a SRW truck.
For the OP the bottom line is he has a bigger TT, he needs a bigger truck.
At some point the OP did his research and determined he need the F250.
The reality of driving that bigger truck is now upon him.
To the OP: Don't despair. It gets better. You just need to change your mindset. Park in open areas. Plan to back into parking spaces when it's tight. Trust those big mirrors, they are not in the way.
Big mirrors are your friend, they give you the optimum view.
You will learn to seek larger friendlier parking spaces. Size become more important than close proximity. You will seldom be able tom park up front close to the door. An F-150 in the same body style will be no different.
