Save your money and buy gas. If vortex generators actually improved fuel economy I think every 18 wheeler in the country would have them.
Many trucks do have vortex generators. Just not air tabs.
They do save on gas when there is a tail wind.
They also dramatically improve the noise level in a class C.

You should expect the same fuel economy with the new truck as with the previous one. Fuel is just energy. A 3/4 ton truck is slightly heavier but the difference is minimal.
If the new truck has more horsepower and you use it, you will use more fuel. But modern 1/2 tons have a ton of power, so I doubt that'll matter.
The modest weight difference doesn't really matter either.

Then get a F150 XLT 3.5 Ecoboost with Max Tow package. Gets you a 36 gallon fuel tank. Mixed mpg- 16+, Highway mpg- 19-20

If the OP really wants to increase range, put a 50 gallon aux tank in the pickup bed.
We have one along with 32 gallon OEM tank, range 650 miles towing our 42' 5th.

Pretty sure you will generally get a bigger tank with 3/4 or 1 ton. My F250 has a bigger tank than my F150 did. Lots of variance by year and model.
I regret not buying a SRW F350. No size difference from F250 and both or rough daily drivers as a Super Duty but the extra payload is nice. If you decide diesel, definitely go with one ton because the heavier diesel will negate much of your payload gains with the 3/4 ton.
I'm not a fan of towing with half tons but they really have gained capabilities in recent years, at least regarding a 7500 lb TT so they might be a model out there that suits your needs.

My 2020 F350 SRW had a 48 gal tank. Loved the extra range it offered. But you are right, as a daily driver they're not a lot of fun.

A long time friend once said "People that get concerned about fuel economy when towing probably can't afford to RV in the first place."

Concerns with range are a lot different than concerns with cost of fuel. A more efficient vehicle and/or one with a larger tank can make a big difference in how and the ease in your travel. And are you trying to imply that folks upgrading to a different vehicle are trying to save money?

if your worried about range, go with the diesel. better MPG directly relates to more range. empty the gassers might get decent milage but loaded up they fall far short of the diesel

And still under 10 towing. What was your point?
The Ecoboost is no more fuel efficient loaded or empty than any of the V8 gasser counterparts.
