I attached a ring to the header in the garage door frame , i back up my truck till the ring is above my hitch, I then have a 1 ton chain hoist from harbor freight that I connect to the ring and drop a lift strap around the hitch and lift it up a few inches above the bed height i then drive out from under the hitch and lower the hitch onto an old office chair and roll it out of the way till I’m ready to install again, its real easy to service the hitch this way also.

Chain hoist in the attic above the garage. 10” hole in the ceiling. Pull it up flush with the ceiling and store it there. Easy to make a cover for the hole when the hitch is on the truck.

I thought I was seeing a picture of my garage with your setup , same thing I did . It's kind of obsolete now , got rid of the that heavy manual slider I had for years ,and went to the Andersen . No more taking hitches apart , greasing , etc. Live has been much easier .

I'm sorry but that B&W comes apart to make two VERY MANAGEABLE pcs. I'm 65 and can easily lift each pc with one hand. I think people need toys for their implements.

I did say to make that specific hitch in two pcs. YES "I" can do that. Just making a point that the overhead lift is not really "needed" but people like toys!!! Head 70# and base 129#.

I agree, a pretty bold statement. My longtime forum friend 12V, is a factual kind of guy. I believe he is capable of doing this, or he would not have said he can. I have to say, beyond the capability of most men his age. Being active most of ones life, retains more youthful strength in later years!
As a young man, working my way through school, I worked in a grocery produce department, that sold potatoes in 100 lb burlap bags. I learned to lift these bags over my head, arms stretched straight up. It was not the 100 lbs, but the unstable balance, that made this difficult. I'd make a $10 bet with other store workers, that they could not do this, after I showed them I could. Only one other guy, out of many, did manage it, and I paid the $10.

Let's put it this way ,why would someone even want to be lifting any type of awkward weight like that ,when there are much better ,and easier ways to do it .

I like how people read into what I said. I did NOT say standing at the back of the truck lifting it with one hand. I just said I could lift if with one hand and I stand by that statement. If I still had my 20k Companion I would have someone take a pic of me doing so.
