We are in the process of shopping for a used 5th wheel. We are going to look at a 2017 Keystone Sprinter 297FWRLS. I searched the forums but didn't find much information about the Sprinter model. How are Keystones as far as quality holding up out there? Does anybody have this particular model?
I'm a bit jaded on the used market as we really had a bad experience with the last used unit we bought but the new market is a bit out of reach for us right now.

Just be sure you look for water damage in the walls and the roof area. Look at the suspension, springs, axles, and the floor to make sure it is all straight. If you can get an inspection from an independent repair shop that would be good, too. That model year should be built pretty well since it is before the Covid builds which I am finding are pretty much thrown together. Good luck,

Keystone sprinter is an entry level trailer and on a Lippert frame. It will be close on tire and axle capacity. The spring and spring hangers are minimal. First hire you own professional inspector to go over the unit and see that all systems are working and there is no water intrusion present or past.
A 2017 trailer may have tires that are aged out so check the DOT date codes for all tires. Typically trailer tires are replaced at 5 to 6 years. Do not accept cheap Chines tires. Insist on AMerican made tires.

So we looked at the trailer today and it was very well taken care of. However when I went on the roof all three slides had the roof membrane pinched and tore so there was a small hole in each one, right in the center at the outer edge. The wood underneath was wet and that was part of the issue with my old camper was a bad roof so I didn’t want to get into that again. We’ll keep looking. Thanks for all the advice.

What ^^he^^ said. Contact NRVIA.org for a certified inspector near the rig you're interested in.

Don't forget to check the floors for soft spots, especially around the toilet, shower, lav, kitchen sink and in the slides.

For all those who do not read previous posts in a thread, the OP said he is moving on. The trailer in question had water damage in the roof after he inspected it.
Thread closed.
