Just wondering if anyone has taken a trip on Route 66...my husband, a retired trucker, has seen most of the attractions along that route, but he says that now you have to get off a major highway to see them. In our travels, we have done that a few times...from St Louis to Santa Monica. But I would love to take a trip that would allow me to see all the main attractions that still exist.
Would appreciate any info or suggestions. Thanks

Oakman AZ is the ONLY place worth seeing.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Williams, Az. has always been 1 of our favorite spots to visit. Plenty to do there including The Grand Canyon Railway train ride.

There isn't much left of the old Route 66 (which my grandparents traveled with me a lot when I was a kid). The Interstate highways cover a good part of the old route. The parts that are left often go through sleepy little towns - or ghost towns - that died when the highways went througn and/or bypassed them. The are still things to see besides Oatman (and the route through there isn't doable in anything larger than a class B) if you're willing to make side trips and spend time... but it ain't what it used to be.

There are a few online guide books:

I remember travelling it as a child.
