There was a thread here a while back about stuff blowing out of the truck bed while towing the 5ers, which I sort of snickered at, but politely did not post in (I hope). I've never had stuff blow out of the truck bed, beyond the occasional, inadvertent piece of trash or paper that shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Coming home from Yellowstone last week I tossed my yellow, light-weight cheapy WalMart chocks in the back corners of the truck bed. Normally I put them in the front trailer compartment. Arrived home without them ... huh, how about that? Now I'm a believer.

I lost a set of 4x4x1' chocks also. Same reaction as you had. I didn't see any damage on truck bed for 5vr - so how did they leave the area without make an "impression"?

Could it be that maybe they didn't fly out but walked out? I carry mine in the bed and haven't lost any yet!! I keep them directly behind the cab.

When mine flew out, they literally hovered back there for a few seconds before exiting. I was able to stop and walk back to pick them up. Heavier things than that will fly out, too.

I had a sand bucket from the dollar store go for a fly on 80, never gor close to the trailer, seemed to leave at about a 45 from the truck. It did pretty good for hundreds of miles till the one big crosswing gust.

Haven't had anything blow out of the bed since I switched to a louvered 5th wheel styled tailgate. The wind coming down the face of the trailer into the bed is significant.

I lost a rachet strap from the bed, put two really nice battle scars on the 5'er.

I didn't loose it but looked back one day and my blue tote was floating between the truckbed and fiver. It was behind the hitch and that was with a louvered tailgate.

Pulled over and put a rachet strap over it.

In about 18,000 miles of towing my 5th, I've never lost one of my yellow plastic chocks. Once I thought I'd lost one, but it turned up.
