Are there any reccomended books to read as one begins to sample the rv/motorhome world? Driving a truck is not new to me, BUT I don't know a million things like draining blackwater (I guess you wear gloves, but what kind?), greywater, flushing tanks, leveling, etiquette (sp?),driving with the propane cooling the refrigerator, etc..

Use the search function in this forum. Most all of the basic RV'ing questions have been gone over in detail. That is the best advise I can give you. Read Motorhome,Trailer life, or other RV magazine. Join Good Sam RV Club and you will receive Highway magazine a source of a lot of great information.

What I did was engage the online search engine at our library's website and ordered every book about RVs and camping I could find in our regional system. Of the dozen or so I read, only one was worth owning IMO. It's called The RVer's Bible by Kim and Sunny Baker. Loads of info on a wide variety of RVing topics. So I went to half.com and bought it for about $8. I'm really glad I didn't buy a ton of books that sounded good but weren't.

A few books we found to have some good information are:
The RV Handbook, Essential How-To Guide for the RV Owner by Bill Estes.
RV Repair & Maintenance Manual (sorry I don't have author, it is RV)
Complete Guide to Full-Time RVing by Bill and Jan Moeller
10 Minute Tech, put out by Trailer Life gives a lot of good information also.
Another couple good books you can find on the Escapees website (http://www.escapess.com are:
Encyclopedia for RVers and Survival of the Snowbirds by Joe and Kay Pererson
These are some books we have found to provide a lot of information and worth buying. I am sure there are others that are very good also.

Try some of the online resources. One that I like is by Mark Nemeth who went full time for a few years. He works for 'Escapees' now and has just updated his website. It has some really good information. You can link to it at http://bart.ccis.com/home/mnemeth/.

Get Idiots GUide to Rving and Rving Basics. Both excellent books. I bought them this year for our first Rving experience and they are great!

Thanks for the replies. I went to Amazon and bought most of your suggestions from their used book area - saved a bundle and got good service. Have been reading up a storm. Checklists seem to be important, I am working on combining important items from several. Will be leaving for Florida (from Maryland) on 4/14. Thanks again.
