Im going to be getting my first trailer..WoOt! I'm very excited as you can see. Is there a list published somewhere of things to stock in your new trailer? Like some sort of checkilst? Thanks for your help and info in advance.

Do a search of the forums (the magnifying glass in the upper right corner) and type in "checklists". There are some great sites out there will all sorts of lists.

Some of the lists out there are very good, but let me say... You will find that you end up packing a lot more stuff than you think. One thing we have tried to do is keep a set of clothes, towels and bedding in the trailer at all times so we don't have to pack that stuff every time we go somewhere.

Stock your trailer with the minimum to get by. Go camping for a weekend. Leave a pad of paper and pen out in an obvious place. By the time you get home, you'll have a long list of the amenities you'd like.

Additionally, don't forget emergency equipment like a good first aid kit (search google.com under 'first aid kits' for several good lists of what to include), a first aid kit for any pets you take with (this will overlap a lot with the regular first aid kit), tools for mechanical emergencies on the road, that sort of thing.

Buy a carbon monoxide detector. Be sure it runs on batteries. Buy a fire extinguisher or three.

Never leave home without rope and duct tape.

Once you get it all stocked up and make a few trips in it, then it's time to re-evaluate. Go back through and take out anything you didn't use other than emergency equipment stuff. I'm constantly taking stuff out that we never use that either the wife or I stuck in there because we thought we may need it. Everything you add is extra weight to haul around. And it adds up fast.

That was the fun part for us!! We stocked a lot of similar items that we use daily at home. Most of the "stuff" stays in the RV so when we camp it is like going to our second home. Find what makes you comfortable and enjoy. Also there is good advice in the previous posts. My $.02 worth......

Someone posted previously that you only need two things in your toolbox.........WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, spray it with WD40. If it moves and shouldn't, tape it down.

Take a look at the link below. There is a very good "packing" checklist at that site. I combined several excellent ones I found into the one you'll see.
