I bought a camper on an alabama salvage parts only title (at auction), it isn't that badly damaged. AL will not issue a rebuilt on it. I have relatives in other states that could maybe help with the paperwork to get it right. Does anybody know of any states where you can tag/register this unit without a title?

Tag for your use or to sell? I don't understand "get it right". Every state I know requires a clear title. You should have a clear salvage title or bill of sale I don't think you can license a salvage vehicle for use on the streets.

Maine, for one. I've heard of some "service" that processes these cases for a fee. The person I knew had used it said he saw an ad in some trailer magazine.

OR get a someone in Maine to "buy" it, register it, then sell it back to you. The state fees involved aren't too much.

We only have Bill of sale - no titles.

If it has already been registered in your State as a salvage vehicle it will be flagged by the vin. Ant attempts to register it again and get a regular title will be blocked in your State. Sounds to me like you bought exactly what you have..a totaled out trailer that cannot be registered again.

Washing a title is serious business. It can get you into a whole lot of trouble, and isn't that hard to track down since the Insurance company has already filed notice that the VIN number is "salvaged". People get sued and go to jail for filing false and misleading title documentation. Exacly how lenient would you be if you were the buyer not the seller of this rig? Even manipulating the documents just so you can use it yourself can create a very serious liability issue should the rig ever be in an accident. I would especially be concerned about drawing relatives and friends into this web. It can come back on them as well.

In PA to register a vehicle with a salvage title, you'll need to show proof that it was satisfactorily repaired and then apply for a rebuilt-salvage title.

a rebuilt title can be obtained in Alabama by a licensed rebuilder… for a fee one may do the paperwork for you…

It will always carry a rebuilt/salvage title that may have some insurance implications to it…

Washing the title I would imagine is not a legal practice anywhere…

You can get a "salvage" title in TN on cars/trucks. I assume you can do that on a trailer as well.
