Well, I had mentioned to the Avion guys that we would get a trip report up when I got a chance. I'll try to post up as many pics as I can, but in a week and a half we took over 600 pics of the many differing sites of Alaska. And we only saw a little bit of it....
It started out after we got off the ferry in Homer that it was raining Buckets and buckets. Standing water all over the roads.

The Kenai penninsula is soooo different in tourist season... Actual traffic jams, and combat fishing at the river...

My 11 year old son's dream is to own a Volkswagon camper van and live in it..[emoticon] so he go excited when he saw this one...

Here you can see the water everywhere with the rain....

Once we got to Anchorage, I dropped the camper, my wife and the twin 11yo's (B/G) at Elmendorf Air Force base family camp, while my 13yo son and I went off to Boy Scout summer camp north of Eagle River on Mirror Lake.

While at Boy Scout camp, my wife had the camera, so I didn't get a picture of the black bear I had to chase out of our troop's camp site, but my wife got this picture of a moose right in the camp ground.

She also saw this fly over a bunch of times,[image]
and found out that the Annual Air Show was the weekend that we got out of Boy Scout camp, so we hung around and went. The kids really enjoyed it! But they did complain that it was "too hot" (it was 74F)(I think my kids have been on Kodiak too long....)

Great airshow - glad the weather cleared up for you (was reminding me too much like my home weather in the top few pictures).

We met up with our friends who were moving from Kodiak to Arizona/Texas in Anchorage on Sunday, and traveled with them on the way to Tok. We drove through Glenallen and then spent Monday night at a little BLM campground near the Matanuska Glacier.

It was still cloudy and drizzly that night, but it was a great day of driving and having fun with friends and family!

Tuesday was a beautiful day! Lots of sunshine, a light breeze that helps to keep the bugs at bay. Back as we were leaving Anchorage, my friend was wanting to get some Airbags for the Dodge, as he was picking up his 24ft cargo trailer in Seattle from the Barge Company. But the weather had not allowed us time to install them. When we found a place along side the road, that was sunny and paved, (happened around lunch time ;-) we put on the Air Bags, and inflated them, by removing the cores, jacking the truck up as high as we could by the hitch, then installed the cores and let it down. Got 15psi that way! Had to drop it to 10 as the ride was too stiff with just the Jayco in the back.[emoticon]

After we got the Air Bags on, we had stopped to lower the air pressure and take a stretch. Then as we got back on the highway, a momma black bear and her cub ran right across infront of our friends, and we stopped and got a few pics of the two!
